End of inclusion in the SEED-trial

Today marks the end of inclusion of new participants in the SEED-trial, and we have our complete sample. 98 participants are included and randomized in total. Participants receive follow-up through Traineeships in sheltered workshops or Supported Employment, and are followed with questionnaires at 6 and 12 months, and registry data three years back and five years forward in time.

The recruitment process has lasted for 2 and 1/2 years, with continuous information-meetings at the 9 different NAV offices throughout Hordaland that are included in the study, NAV Initiatives, Intro and Market, and Betanien regional psychiatric center. Participants are young unemployed who are considered by their caseworker to have need for special assistance/are eligible for sheltered workshops. All the included participants are <30 years, and 68% are men. We have a 100% response rate at baseline, and will now be able to learn more about who young people at risk of early disability are, an exciting and important group that we need to learn more about. In about one year’s time we will have 12-month follow-up data for the last person included, and will be able to examine whether the interventions have an effect on employment, health and quality of life, and which intervention may be the most beneficial and cost effective.

We wish to thank all participants and partners for the year that has passed, and look forward to taking on new tasks in the year to come. Meanwhile it only remains to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!
